Splitting Apart
- Chapter 84

|
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ
الرَّحِيمِ |
|
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
ذ |
|
|
إِذَا
السَّمَاء انشَقَّتْ |
|
|
1- |
When the sky splits apart |
|
وَأَذِنَتْ
لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ |
|
|
2- |
And listens and obeys the Command of its Lord
and it must do so. |
|
وَإِذَا
الْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ |
|
|
3- |
And when the earth is stretched and
flattened. |
|
وَأَلْقَتْ
مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ |
|
|
4- |
And throws out what is in it and empties out. |
|
وَأَذِنَتْ
لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ |
|
|
5- |
It also listens and obeys the Command of its
Lord, as it must do so. |
|
يَا أَيُّهَا
الْإِنسَانُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَى رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَاقِيهِ |
|
|
6- |
O mankind, you surely are striving hard by
doing good deeds towards your Lord,
then you shall certainly meet Him. |
|
فَأَمَّا
مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ |
|
|
7- |
So regarding the person whose Record of deeds
is given in his (or her) right hand, |
|
فَسَوْفَ
يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا |
|
|
8- |
Will soon certainly receive the result and
the account easily, |
|
وَيَنقَلِبُ
إِلَى أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا |
|
|
9- |
And will get back to his or her family and
folks with joy. |
|
وَأَمَّا مَنْ
أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ وَرَاء ظَهْرِهِ |
|
|
10- |
But as for the person whose account is given
behind his back, |
|
فَسَوْفَ
يَدْعُو ثُبُورًا |
|
|
11- |
Will wish and cry for his or her own
vanishing and destruction. |
|
12- |
And shall enter the Blazing Fire. |
|
إِنَّهُ كَانَ
فِي أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا |
|
|
13- |
In fact he (or she) was very happy among his
(or her) folks (on earth). |
|
إِنَّهُ ظَنَّ
أَن لَّن يَحُورَ |
|
|
14- |
He really had thought that he would never
return (to his Lord). |
|
بَلَى إِنَّ
رَبَّهُ كَانَ بِهِ بَصِيرًا |
|
|
15- |
Yes indeed, his Lord was of course Watchful
over him all the time. |
|
فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ |
|
|
16- |
I do not swear by the afterglow of the
sunset. |
|
17- |
And by the night and all that it darkens. |
|
وَالْقَمَرِ
إِذَا اتَّسَقَ |
|
|
18- |
And by the moon when it is full, |
|
لَتَرْكَبُنَّ
طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ |
|
|
19- |
That you certainly travel (in your existence)
from stage to stage
(from conception to birth to childhood, maturity, old age,
death, Resurrection and Everlasting Afterlife). |
|
فَمَا لَهُمْ
لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ |
|
|
20- |
So what is the matter with those who (do not
get this fact and) do not believe? |
|
وَإِذَا
قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقُرْآنُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ |
|
|
21- |
And when the Quran (with all its facts and
guidance) is read to them,
they don’t fall to humble themselves in prostration (to God, the
Creator)? |
|
بَلِ
الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُكَذِّبُونَ |
|
|
22- |
On the contrary, those who deny the truth,
call it (the Quran) as a lie. |
|
وَاللَّهُ
أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ |
|
|
23- |
And God knows what they hide in their hearts. |
|
فَبَشِّرْهُم
بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ |
|
|
24- |
So warn them of a coming painful suffering. |
|
إِلَّا
الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ
مَمْنُونٍ |
|
|
25- |
Except those who have believed and have done
righteous good deeds,
for whom there will be a reward without any end. |
|
|
